Exact date of Golden Visa cancellation in Spain: make it by April 3, 2025

On January 3, Organic Law 1/2025 of January 2 was published in the Official State Gazette (BOE), which contains new measures to improve the efficiency of the judicial system. This law repeals certain articles of Law 14/2013, which previously regulated the “golden visa” program for investors.

What has changed?

1. Transitional rules:

• Applications for visas or permits submitted before the law comes into force will be processed under the previous conditions.
• Visas and permits already issued will remain valid until their expiration date.
• Extensions will also be processed under the rules that were in force when the first permit was issued.

2. When does it come into force?
The law will come into force three months after publication, from April 3, 2025.

Apply before April 3rd!

If you want to apply for a “golden visa”, you still have the opportunity, but you need to do it before this date.
